FRANCIS PICABIA
Works on Paper
1 February through 15 April 2006
UPPER EAST SIDE, NEW YORK

Francis Picabia: Works on Paper is a major exhibition of important and rarely seen drawings by the artist. A seminal figure in the twentieth century, Francis Picabia (1879-1953) consistently embraced diversity and change in a career that spanned over seven decades. Drawing from a variety of sources throughout his life, including early Dada movement inspirations, to his kitsch portraits of women in the 1930s and 1940s, Francis Picabia intentionally escaped being identified as part of any one artistic trend of his time. A full-color catalogue of the exhibition, with essay by Dave Hickey, is available.
