Monotypes and Ancient South Arabian Alabaster Heads
30 November 2000 through 20 January 2001
UPPER EAST SIDE, NEW YORK
The exhibition focuses on a beautiful series of 15 large-scale monotypes from the late 1980s by the renowned Danish artist Per Kirkeby (b. 1938) and a group of 15 rare South Arabian alabaster heads of Sabean origin dating from the 1st century B.C./A.D. The juxtaposition of ancient figurative art and contemporary abstract works on paper provides a unique viewing opportunity and a stunning visual contrast.
