Thirty-four years after the exhibition at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, which introduced Eugène Leroy (1910-2000) to the French public, his works are once again on display there, in a retrospective held from April 15th to August 28th, 2022. Unsurprising, given that the painter was “discovered” by Georg Baselitz and the dealer Michael Werner, who donated a large part of his collection to the Parisian museum a few years ago. Hector Obalk visited the 1988 exhibition and wrote this enthusiastic text shortly afterwards, which remained confidential.
