Michael Werner Gallery is pleased to present Series Drawings, an exhibition of serial works on paper.
Series Drawings explores the myriad ways artists approach form. Unlike a formalized 'cycle' of work, where content is the central unifying aspect, the series in this exhibition are determined by the order and variation of specific motifs and formal elements. This exhibition explores notions of theme and variation, of the way materials can define image making and of the subtle and often unexpected relationships that can arise within a juxtaposition of historic and contemporary works.
Series Drawings includes works on paper by Georg Baselitz, Joseph Beuys, Marcel Broodthaers, Aaron Curry, André Derain, Peter Doig, Jean Fautrier, Jörg Immendorff, Per Kirkeby, Markus Lüpertz, Henri Michaux, A.R. Penck, Francis Picabia, Sigmar Polke, Eugen Schönebeck, Louis Soutter and Don Van Vliet.
Series Drawings opens 18 September and continues through 25 October. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm. For more information please contact Jason Duval at jason@michaelwerner.com.
